Back to the wedding…..the flash dance!

As I mentioned before, I have/had the most amazing friends/bridesmaids. They planned and practiced a flash dance 2 days before the wedding. The idea was cooked up by Cynthia when I made a passing comment that they were all getting along so well I would not be surprised the they had a little something planned. The idea was born on the walk home from the bridal luncheon.

On Friday, they taught and practiced the dance when I had gone to the “meet and greet”:

Then during the wedding, the song “Sexy and I know it” came on. I noticed they were all collecting on the dance floor so I went to see what was going on. This is what was going on!

I clearly loved it!

During the “wiggle, wiggle” part, I joined in for the freestyle portion of the song. Girls, you absolutely rock. It was a fabulous surprise and you are too adorable. I am glad Sabrina made it for the “wiggle” part!

I CANNOT wait to see the wedding video. I really hope they got this in all of its glory.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALEX!

This past weekend we celebrated by baby brother's 24th birthday! We were given noise makers and sung/noised “happy birthday”. Watch if you dare…

Once Alex blew out his candles, he opened some birthday presents…

Once all the foolishness was out of the way, we gave Alex his real birthday present…we tiled his bedroom. Alex and I laid tile, mixed mortar and passed the tiles to Ashley (who was our “runner”). She would bring them to Doug who was cutting all the tile downstairs in the garage.

After many hours we almost finished the room. Dad had laid all the tiles in the center of the room before we got there. Our job was to finish the edges. We only left a little bit for Dad and Alex to finish.

Happy Birthday Alex! My legs and rump are still sore from all the squats to lay the tile.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ASHLEY!

My sweet, wonderful and awesome Ashley is one fabulous year older!

We celebrated her birthday with friends and family on Saturday (a post waiting to happen) and I get to celebrate with her again today!

I hope this year rocks!

YOU ARE THE BEST SISTER EVER!!!

Introducing Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Brown!

Doug and I were introduced and we entered into the ballroom.

Doug led me around the dance floor as The Mixed Nuts played Fly me to the Moon by Frank Sinatra.

We had been practicing the Fox Trot for months and had taken private lessons to make the first dance a little different. We had a great time practicing and fox trotting at the wedding.

Then it was time for the Father/Daughter and Mother/Son dance. Doug and I chose They All Asked For You by the Meters. Again, we wanted something a little untraditional.

Dad and I had practiced the week before and he had all his moves lined up.

Dad pulled out the shopping cart, sprinkler and lawnmower for our dance. He is a wild man. As we were dancing he said, “Mom said I could do any moves I wanted because not many people would be watching, but as I look around everyone is watching….” I laughed and agreed no one would be looking if we had done a traditional dance. Who would miss this show!

After the two “formal” dances, doug and I stayed on the dance floor to get the party started.

Soon after, all the bridesmaids and some groomsmen joined us and the party officially started.

Doug and I did not leave the dance floor for a few songs. After a bit, we decided to make some rounds and say hello to people. I also remember my bustle coming out from all the dancing. Ashley was all over me and took care of everything.

The only scheduled event left for the evening was the cake cutting so we knew we had time to visit and dance the night away, or so we thought. There was one scheduled event we had no idea about…I will tell you about it next week!

The Reception at the JW Marriott– Overview

The party officially began as we entered the ballroom. Before I do separate posts on specific events that happened (like the girls flashdance or cutting the cake), I want to do a general overview of the wedding.

There was A LOT of work done to the ballroom for the reception. Let’s go on  a tour.

I took all the ingredients you just reviewed and mixed 200 guests, three stocked bars, and a dance floor.
