Christmas at the Roosevelt and Dirty Dancing

Dirty Dancing came to the Saenger so we decided to make a day of it!

Sarah came over early and we exchanged Christmas gifts with her, Ashley and Andrew.

Then we headed over to the Roosevelt to enjoy a cold beverage. IMG_6171

Ashley had mentioned the Roosevelt was serving a “Ms. Claus’ Cookie” drink that was pretty fantastic. We we sold.

We arrived and headed straight for the Sazerac Bar.

IMG_6172

All the girls had Ms. Claus’ yummy drink and Doug ordered a Hot Buttered Rum. IMG_6174

Doug’s drink had donuts in it!IMG_6178

Then we enjoyed the decorations that make the Roosevelt so famous!IMG_6181

IMG_6184

We checked out the Gingerbread houses…IMG_6185

and then we finally headed to the Saenger.

The show was pretty good except that we sat by a lady that carried a large amount cat feces in her purse. Not kidding. I was terrible. We moved seats at intermission it was that bad. Alas, you can’t win them all!

Christmas Luncheon at The Rib Room!

I was honored to be invited to the Annual Christmas Luncheon at the Rib Room the Friday before Christmas. IMG_1920

Perry, a friend of Gay’s, organizes the luncheon each year and I made it on the invite list!

IMG_1926 (1)

The Rib Room was beautifully decorated and the company was even better. I sat on one end of the table. Pretty sure it was the “loud” end of the table. IMG_1923

I enjoyed my hot chocolate and even had a bit of a water fight!IMG_1924

THAT was cold. Smile

IMG_1922

The French Quarter was hopping! Sadly, it was a rainy day, but we made the most of it. Thank you again, Perry, for having me! I had a great time!

IMG_1925

By the way, lunch on the Friday before Christmas is AN EVENT. It took 4 hours so prepare yourself if you find yourself out for a Christmas Luncheon!

Then we put up the “green” and decorated!IMG_6161 IMG_6162IMG_6163

We used our favorite ornaments and hung them all over!IMG_6167

The finished product!

I really love my nontraditional tree! Thank you pinterest!

Mom’s Birthday! (Dec 13)

My beautiful, wonderful, fabulous mother celebrated her birthday last month!

We woke her up with a surprise coffee cake for breakfast!

IMG_6115  IMG_6123

Doesn’t she look so dainty blowing out the candles!IMG_6117

Then we headed out for a walk! IMG_6124

We walked 2.something miles around Southeastern…and we might have ended up in a dumpster for a bit.

IMG_1748

IMG_1750

We digress….anyway, then we headed to lunch! Adobe was calling our names!IMG_6126

Happy Birthday Mom!

Then the cootie hat was passed around…

Then we headed home for the official birthday party!IMG_6134

We decorated with signs and other fun décor.IMG_6137

More candles to blow out. IMG_6139IMG_6141

The whole gang was there to see her open her gifts. IMG_6142

Later that night we celebrated one last time…IMG_6151

IMG_6154

Doesn’t Andrew look pumped?! hehe.

We played Phase 10 (which mom won) and some telestrations. It really was a fun night. We laughed and laughed. One day we will have to share the drawings, but they are not all rated G. Smile

Happy Birthday Mom! We love you!

Saint’s Game–Doug won tickets!

(a little out of order – forgive me Smile)

Doug won tickets to the Monday Night Saints game on November 24th so we went! The Saints played the Ravens and it was a sad game overall.IMG_20141124_183629

We had fun though. We sat with Doug’s coworkers and entertained ourselves. IMG_1892

We actually got to hang with the State Troopers too! One of our friends was working the game and we had amazing police protection the whole game.

Yay for winning tickets. Boo for losing, but its all good!

The Acro Cats!

As official cat ladies, when we heard a cat circus was coming to town, we were in! Sarah, Ashley and I traveled to the (dreaded) Marigny for this circus and it was worth it!IMG_1896

It was their special Christmas show and it was super special. IMG_1898

My favorite part was when the cats when rogue and ran through the audience. IMG_1900

It really was awesome and I enjoyed it very much. It motivated me to keep training my boys.

Here is a little excerpt of the fun when the rock cats were playing their music!

The Rock Cats!

They will be back in March if you want to see their regular show. It really was fun. Get there early so you can sit in the front row!
