December Date Night!

Doug and I finally did our December date night!

Here were the rules and some wedding supplies I pulled out…

I actually remembered a cute idea that Ms. Liz (Andrew’s mom) had emailed Ashley. It was to make an ornament from your wedding invite. With that picture in my head, I proposed the idea to Doug. He agreed…or so I thought. Check out his face in these pictures!

So we got to work. I cut our wedding invite into strips and curled them. Doug put the curly strips of paper into the clear glass ornament…

Once we were finished, I glued the top on tied a green ribbon (from the wedding).

All finished!

If you are wondering, we did have the hot chocolate, but no photos were taken. For the record, it was about 75 degrees outside. Typical Louisiana weather.

Thank you Ashley, Andrew, Janessa, and Matthew for the date night and Mrs. Liz for the idea!

Pinterest Cauliflower Pizza and Thin Mints

I pin all kinds of things on Pinterest. Recently I found this recipe on Pinterest for Cauliflower Pizza. It intrigued me because the recipe looked different from all the others. So we gave it a whirl and it was really good! Doug said it was an A- for cauliflower pizza crust.

Next up, we tried a recipie Ashley gave me over the phone, but she got it from Pinterest.

Mock Think Mints:
1 tbs peppermint extract
1 bag of semisweet chocolate
ritz crackers

Melt the chocolate and stir in the extract. Dip the crackers. Put in freezer. (Ashley said you can dip half or whole. She said she preferred half dipped so that is what I tried…)IMG_1487

THEY WERE REALLY GOOD! They really did taste like thin mints plus a little salt.

In other news, not losing any weight so far… haha.

Happy Birthday Mom! 2012

One of my favorite people had a birthday recently: My fabulous Mom!!

I met the family for lunch at Adobe to kick off the celebration! It was delicious as usual.

Later, we had a little party for her at the house! IMG_1507

Sadly, Alex was sick and was quarantined to the corner and told not to breathe on anyone…IMG_1499 haha!

Also, an unconditional hug was given to Mom from Andrew. It was a coupon from a birthday coupon book so we had to take an official photo of the event:

As you know, if you read this blog at all, we always hang birthday signs. This was one of my favorite signs so I wanted to share it! I love how tall Doug is and how the birthday girl shines! Well done Ashley. IMG_1516

After the little party, they had plans to go see a movie, but I did not attend. I headed back to work and caught up with them the following weekend. Sounds like they had fun! I am sorry I had to miss it.

I hope you had a great birthday Mom. We love you so much. You rock!

Cookie Box 2012 – Gay’s Famous Cookies!

Just like last year, I have received and devoured Gay’s Cookie Christmas Box (with help from Doug, of course!)!

The presentation is fabulous, as usual:

You can tell which of her cookies are my favorite. I am the ONLY one who gets to make my own cookie box! It is a huge honor and she lets me pick out AND pack my own box. I am a Cookie VIP.

Thank you Mrs. Gay! I love my box. It only lasted 2.5 days in my house.
