Last Week = A bit busy :)

So last week it appears I was slacking. In a way it is true as I only had a blog up on Monday, BUT I was sort of busy.

I drove to Hot Springs, Virginia for my National Sales Meeting. We stayed at a historic old hotel called The Homestead. It was absolutely beautiful and haunted. :) I arrived last Sunday night to this view:

IMG_0779IMG_0778

Once we arrived, we were booked from 7 am until 9 or 10 pm each night, or that is how I handled it. It was great to see old friends and chat with people dealing with the same challenges.

After Monday’s meetings, we had our awards ceremony and I ended up in the bar until late. Jason Drake was the official DJ and we danced until late.

The following day (Tuesday), Katie, Ashley and I went for a “little” hike. We lost Ashley early as she did not have the right shoes on, but we did climb up a hill and take this little photo:

IMG_0772IMG_0773

It was a beautiful day and we had some fun. We then headed to the spa to get our massages! :) THAT was very nice. We stayed in there with all the girls chatting until almost 7 pm. I have no photos from the spa as that might be illegal, but a very nice man worked on my neck and head for 45 minutes. It was glorious.

I will share more adventures as this week goes on.

Last Saturday = Biggest Lizzie Fitbit day ever

I know you might get tired of me sharing this, but it kind of motivates me sooooo skip it if you get bored.

Last weekend I kicked some fitbit butt! First of all, I got up around 9 and cleaned my house, walked up and down the stairs, repotted plants, ran all over the place and came upstairs to check on my fitbit dashboard to see how active I was. I kept hitting refresh waiting for it to upload my data.

I hit it again……….and again. Then I realized I was a dummy and had not put it on that morning. I was so mad! I had missed all that data. Oh well. I put it on my pants and kept working on my house.

It was so beautiful that I decided to do my “long run”. I put quotations around it because Doug had already ran his long run before I even got up at 9 am. He ran 12 miles. Jerk. I was going to run 3 miles, but once I got going I wanted to run 4 miles. I ran 4 miles and then walked a few miles with Ashley (and Michelle).

After that Saints game we will not speak of, I headed downtown to Melody’s bachelorette party where I got more steps in! I got home before midnight and found out I was 800 steps away from breaking 30k steps…so I did what any rational person would do. I put my tennis shoes on with my dress and started pacing around my house. My cats were staring at my like I was crazy…with good reason.

I was 4 minutes away from midnight and still needed 600 steps. I raced and raced, but ultimately faced the fact that I could not squeeze it in.

THEN I REALIZED, I had over 30k because I forgot my fitbit for the first two hours of being awake and cleaning my house. I had 30k! I know fitbit does not know it, but I know it so I am still happy.

Here is what my end of day stats looked like:

I am still obsessed. I have been contacted by 5 people who are getting one after all by blogging craziness. We do still get credit if you buy a fitbit after clicking through our logo. No pressure though.

Doug = Chef

Doug and I went to Rouses to make some groceries. We walked by the turkeys and Doug decided he wanted to roast a turkey. I, clearly, was all for it. So we brought a 17lb turkey to my house. Doug did a lot of research and started on his project:

IMG_5220

(Steve and DJ – notice the cat towel over the sink :))

He thawed and cleaned it all up. He stuffed it with some magical ingredients and then brined it in some spicy, salty, Tony’s filled water: IMG_5222

We tasted the water and it had a heck of a kick. He assured me it would not be as spicy as the water was. We went for it!

He brined it over night in the fire water and smoked it for 12 hours the next day. It smelled and tasted amazing. My db is awesome. He did say he would do a few things differently. 1. He would not buy a 17lb turkey. It took too long. 2. He said he would like to do it on a warmer day as it kept killing his fire and 3. Doug said he was right as the brine was not too spicy. Touché dear.

Thanks db! Have you ever seen a guy so happy to have his hand up a turkey’s butt? You are the best! IMG_5223

The best new wine glass ever…

As Amanda drove to see us for NYE she found an amazing new wine glass at a truck stop. Get ready:

IMG_5200

It is a mason jar on a glass pedestal! Super classy. It even comes with a mason jar lid. The only thing that could make it better is if it was a “ball” mason jar.

Here are some pictures of it in action:

A gift of worms :)

My sweet and wonderful father gave me a thoughtful and generous gift:

IMG_5216

A HUGE CUP OF WORMS! Needless to say, I was very excited. As soon as I got home I opened the cup and checked out my new compost eating friends.

To my surprise, I found an worm egg right on top.

IMG_5218

If you look closely, you can see a little orange colored dot in the top left quadrant of the photo. It is a little bigger than a sesame seed. These egg packets hold 3-7 little baby worms.

I introduced my new worms to my old friends and they all seem to get along. Here is my worm compost bin with my new worms:

IMG_5219

It is really not much to look at, but I am super pumped. I put all my food scraps in here. It lives next to my garbage can and does not smell (except that one time I put a bunch of bad broccoli in it. It smelled broccoli-ish for one day.)

I am not sure how many worms I have now. I started with 50. Dad gave me at least 50 and they have been reproducing over the past 4 months. The worm bin directions say my bins can hold up to 10,000 worms. I have plenty of room to grow. :)

Thank you Dad! My worms are awesome and say hello!

On my drive home from getting my gift of worms, I was reading up on some worm facts. I learned that worms mate for 3-4 hours. See, you learned something new!

Oh Fitbit, How I love thee…

I just received an email from Fitbit that showed me my weekly usage. I love that it keeps me motivated and aware of what I am doing each day.

Now that Doug’s Fitbit has arrived, he is insane. He climbed 50 stairs two days ago to get the 50 stair badge. The man is crazy.

Anyway, here are my stats:image

Sadly, my weight did not change, but I am looking much more toned and I feel stronger. I expect to start losing soon…hopefully. :)

I like the daily dashboard and weekly updates. Often, we go for a walk at night so I can hit my goals. It keeps me moving and overall healthier. I am tracking also all of my food on the site. If you befriend me on Fitbit, you can see all of my meals and workout details. I made them public to keep me honest.

As we keep telling our friends and families about the Fitbit, people keep buying them. Since we are marketing the Fitbit for them, we signed up for the affiliate program and earn a little bit of money with every Fitbit sold through our website!

So, if you are interested in getting one please use the link logo below.

Chicken Coop Update!

We are only weeks away from having our very own CHICKENS AND DUCKS!

The chickens will be named after my parents grandmothers (Alma, Mecie, Rose and GiGi) and the ducks will be named Flippy and Ducky. I am sure my great-grandmothers are honored. :)

Dad has been hard at work creating this:

Dad put so much work into each little cubby. Great job Dad!

Not the outcome I expected…

Well, I had hoped to make a big post about my LSU Tigers winning against Alabama last night, but it appears they did not even show up to play.

The party included Ashley, Doug and I watching LSU get spanked. I yelled at the TV all night. The cats stayed upstairs as they do not enjoy watching football with me.

I will never speak of this game again after this post.

Dance Lessons…

Doug and I decided to have some fun with this wedding stuff and take dance lessons :)

We finally picked our song tonight and are officially fox trotting for our first dance as a married couple! Yay!

Doug is doing really well (not that I was concerned). :) We have learned 4 “steps” for the fox trot and are looking pretty good. The only space big enough for us to practice is the parking lot. I think we should have some “date night practice sessions” out in the parking lot….we just have to watch for cars.

If you drive by and see us dancing outside, just roll with it.

Jan 5 to May 5 = 4 months! Ahh!!

Today is a big milestone as we close in time before the wedding. We are down to the 4 month mark or 121 days! Oh my!

I am working on quite a few small things now. Just finishing up the AV, linens, rehearsal dinner, invitations, bridal luncheon, and wedding décor. :)

I would show you my list of things to do, but I do not want to scare you.

Thank you Mom, Ashley, Cynthia and Doug for working countless hours with me. You have all been so wonderful.

Lets go!

Christmas present for Lizzie = Fitbit

Update: If anyone is interested in buying a fitbit, feel free to use this logo

I first saw this little gadget on my friend, Cynthia. She was telling me it tracks all her steps and tells her how many calories she burns. I was intrigued and mentioned it to Doug. Mind you, this was months ago. On Christmas morning I opened a little box and found my very own fitbit! That smart, sweet boy… he listened!
I am currently obsessed with this little plastic clip. This is what it looks like:
fitbit
You clip it somewhere on your core and it stores all the data until you get within 15 feet of the docking station where it wirelessly uploads your stats!
Here is the data it gave me for today:
(I am blogging this in the evening…)
fitbit data
It updates every time I get near the docking station! It is very motivating as I keep trying to beat the standards set for me…
fit bit 3
The food goal is based on my current weight and weight loss plan. The calorie range changes and updates depending on how active I am! So stinking cool. (aka. the more I exercise, the more I can eat!)
fitbit 2
This shows when I am most active during the day. As you can see, Doug and I went for a speedy walk tonight around 8 pm. Are you impressed yet?
fit bit 4
This is also cool. If you wear it on your wrist while you sleep, it tracks how well you sleep. The previous night, I scored a 95% sleep efficiency.
If you have fitbit, friend me! If you don’t, I bet a few of you do now :). I am really obsessed with it right now. It does much more than I showed you, but I did not want to bore you all as I gush about my new toy. To check it out more, go to www.fitbit.com.
Thanks DB! You are the best. I love my little fitbit!
