Bridesmaids–Volume IV–Cynthia

Cynthia lives kind of close, but not close enough to see her all the time. I love it when she pops into town to visit or grab lunch. Cynthia married a fantastic man last year and I was so very honored to her in her wedding. We had some serious fun!

I decided to ask Cynthia to be my bridesmaid during Labor Day week. She actually offered to come with me and Ashley to visit the JW Marriott to meet with Mike. She came over and we visited for a while in my room. I showed her my wedding shoes and all the details I already have planned for the wedding. She was sitting on my bed when I gave her the book.

She got super excited when she got to the back page and agreed to be my bridesmaid!! Yay!!

Cynthia and I lived together for a year at LSU. At first, she and I did not get along so well, but as the year went on we became best of friends. She moved to California for work and we lost touch for a bit, but once she moved back, it was on! I love having her in my life. She is so serious and so funny at the same time. I just adore her. Here are pictures that were in her book:

Bridesmaids–Volume III–Amanda

On the same night as last post, I decided to ask Amanda.

Asking Amanda all depended on when I would be able to see her. As Amanda lives out of town, getting her in person is harder to do. Her book arrived first and I had been holding on to it for weeks. She decided to attend the restaurant club and I planned to ask her that night at dinner.

Similar to Courtney, I had the waiter deliver the book to her during dessert. If you know Amanda, you know she is a softie and has a huge heart (aka she was going to cry). As soon as she opened the book she said, “You are going to make me cry!” I agreed as I knew it would. (Amanda has a huge heart and it leads her 99.9% of the time.) She is very sentimental and just looking at old pictures of us made her tear up.

She looked through the book and when she got to the last page she was crying pretty hard. She said “Yes! Of course”, when she got to the bridesmaid question. She stood up and hugged me the tightest hug I have ever received.

Amanda and I met as LSU Ambassadors during college. We were fast friends and when she graduated from Flight attendant school, I traveled to Dallas to see her graduate. I was her first “buddy” flyer (if you don’t know what that is –  flight attendants are given the opportunity each year to name a buddy to fly with them the whole year) and we traveled together. We went to Orlando, Baltimore (twice) and had some serious fun.

Even though we lost touch for a little bit a few years ago, we are still best of friends. Every time she is in Nola for the night, I am there. We actually spent Valentines day together this year in Whole Foods and it was fantastic! I love my girl.

Bridesmaids–Volume II–Courtney

For my next unsuspecting victim, I decided to ask Courtney during our restaurant club dinner. Her book arrived weeks before, but I wanted to save it for the dinner for many reasons. First of all, her entire family (except Kenny) would be there, and I wanted to share it with them also. Secondly, she would not think it would be weird at all to take pictures during the dinner.

I waited for dessert and had the waiter deliver the book to her in front of her whole family. I came over to watch her open it and look through it. (I was actually asking two girls that night so I was between the two of them. I even placed our tables next to each other so I could hop back and forth.) Courtney and I have taken A LOT of pictures together over the years.  As she looked through it, I had Jeff (her brother) take pictures of her looking through it.

On the last page was a sweet note and the last line says: “Will you be my bridesmaid?” When she got to the last page, she said, “Awwww” and closed the book. I was like…uhhh….did she read it all? Did she read the last part? As I stood there frozen, she looked up at me and said, “Yes.”  I guess she did read it all! Smile

The History:

I met Courtney through a mutual friend, Scott H, while tailgating at an LSU game. He then invited me camping with their group of friends. While camping, Courtney and I became closer friends. As time went on, we started chatting all the time and hanging out every Thursday at the Bulldog on Canal. Our friendship continued to grow as we vacationed together. We went to Colorado twice, the LSU v Tennessee Game, The LSU v Ole Miss game and many other fun places.

The biggest honor in our friendship was in 2007 when Courtney asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding (What!?!) and I was lucky enough to throw her a baby shower before Riley was born.

She is such a wonderful friend that I am keeping in my life forever. I have also weaseled my way into her family’s tradition of Cookie Day.

Courts, thank you for being awesome. I am so honored you have agreed to be in my wedding. I love you!

My Maid of Honor–Ashley

I wanted to ask Ashley first as she is my sister and I was asking her to be the Maid of Honor.

Our picture book is by far the thickest as there are many pictures of us over the past 27 years. Here are some of the pictures from over the years:

Her picture book was delivered a few weeks before her birthday in July, but I wanted to wait for her birthday to give it to her.

We celebrated her birthday all weekend, but on her actual birthday we went to visit Alex’s bar to celebrate with the whole family. We arrived with a few presents. I made sure she opened her book last. We all enjoyed the photos and she agreed to be my Maid of Honor.

Ashley is the best sister anyone could ask for. I could not be luckier. She is a great person, loving, caring and wonderful. I am so blessed to have her in my life.  Thank you for agreeing to be my maid of honor. I love you!
