Mardi Gras Weekend: Friday and Saturday

Friday was Nuts. It was my least favorite day of the whole weekend, but I shall still tell the story.

At 9:30 am, I met my dad at the hotel for him to drop off the ladders (THANK YOU AGAIN DAD) and get the parking worked out. All went smooth.

I went back home and packed my stuff to move into the hotel for the weekend. I got it all done. I packed like 10 million bags and Doug packed one. Ug. Being a girl is so much work.

I got back to the hotel by noon (traffic Uptown is so bad right now because of all the construction) and unpacked my stuff. I got the room all ready and went out for a 3 mile run on St. Charles. It was absolutely beautiful. They day was awesome and all the people holding spots were entertaining to look at. The Streetcars were not running on the Route after Friday morning.

I got back to the hotel, showered up and then twiddled my thumbs for hours for doug to get off work. It kinda sucked so by the time he got to the hotel (via bike from work) I was not into the Mardi Gras. I know, hard to believe. I did not even dress up.

I started feeling better when he got there and we went down to watch the parades. I got to see my buddies Amy, Bridgette, and Courtney marching in d’Etat and they were super creepy. See here:IMG_20150213_201551_thumb

I ended up having a good time by the end of the night, but it was a rocky start. Poor DB. He is a trooper.

We actually stayed up pretty late with Bret and Martha at Superior. There were many beverages and happy discussions. We went to bed by midnight and were back out on the streets the next morning.

Doug had decided to make a costume adaption. He cut a hole into his Hulk hand so it could hold his drink. Brilliant I say.

We had many visitors Saturday!

IMG_2058_thumb IMG_2059_thumb

Shawn, Lauren and Samantha (who dislike the hulk) came by. Also Mr. Keith and Ms. Sonia were stuck hanging out with us. All Shawn’s fault if you ask me.

Brock and Cynthia too!

IMG_2061_thumb

Barb, Sarah, Ms. Mary, Mr. Larry, Nick and Ben were there too!IMG_2503_thumb

Then Kristian, Byron and Susan came by!

We also got to enjoy Courtney and Ryan’s company. We love them!

It was another beautiful, amazing day. We had a blast.

Once all the parades had passed, we decided we were going to try to get to see Endymion. It was a lofty goal, we doug felt up to the challenge. We got down there (again thanks to DB’s amazing driving skills), parked by Tulane and Carrollton and walked down to Canal. It was not a terrible walk.

We got there, found our peeps (of whom we took NO photo. FAIL.) and hung out for a while. I got to see the regular crew. I miss them. So we hung out there for a while with the ebb and flow of the crowds. I also got to see my riding buddies – Brandon B, Augie, and Anthony.

At one point the parade had stopped so we illegally walked up to Augie and Anthony to visit with them for a bit. On our way our we ran into Gene!2015---Mardi-Gras---Gene---Endymion_

He randomly found saw us walking in front of the barricades. We visited with him for a bit before the police made us move again Smile. It was so great to see him to keep the tradition alive of spending Valentine’s day with Gene! Two years strong!

As it was Valentine’s day, we deiced to go have a lovely, romantic dinner…at Felipe’s!IMG_20150214_192851_thumb

Those burritos hit the spot! SO romantic.

We headed back to the hotel and rested up for the parades on Sunday. Awesome day. YAY!

Babylon, Muses and Chaos

One of my favorite nights! I just love Muses. It is because of the shoes I am pretty sure. IMG_9305

We got all ready at the house. Sarah and Courtney arrived and we were off…well, not before a few action shots.

IMG_9307

On the road!IMG_2038

We got down to the St. Charles area because of Doug’s mad driving skills. He really is amazing. We headed to Craig and Kathryn’s palace and had an absolute blast!

IMG_9313

My favorite float…the Muses Shoe! IMG_9316

We had some awesome friends join us. Courtney and Sarah came with us, but we also had Steve, Jeff and Erin come to play! Kristian and Byron also showed up a bit later. I just love all those kids!IMG_9320

It was Courtney and Erin’s first time at Muses and they caught shoes!!IMG_9323

Lucky ladies. IMG_9324

My Aunt Donna rides and threw Doug and I two AMAZING shoes. IMG_9325

Jeff caught his style of shoe too!

You can tell we never have fun…Smile

Then Kristian caught this AMAZING BOOT! Check it out!IMG_2041

Another amazing Muses night over. I have officially decided I want to ride in Muses. I am putting it on my bucket list. Maybe I just want to make glittered shoes. I am not sure! I will do both (I hope)!!

Here are the beautiful shoes my Aunt threw me next to our Mardi Gras Tree. IMG_2042

I JUST LOVE MARDI GRAS.

Mardi Gras! The first weekend!

For the record, I LOVE MARDI GRAS! I just do. I can’t help it. I just love parades. I love the dancing girls. I love the bands playing. I love the drum majors dancing. I love the beads. I love the ladders. I love the people in costumes. I love New Orleans Mardi Gras. I just do.

I got home Friday night from my NSM in Dallas, but made it home too late to go to any parades.

The next morning it was time for Pee-raids! We got dressed and headed uptown to hang out with Josh, Amber, Harper and Larson. IMG_1997

It was a beautiful day! IMG_20150207_170423

We watched Ponchartrain, Chocktaw and Sparta!IMG_20150207_170454

I got to wear my new gold shoes! Thanks DB!

That night Sparta and Pygmalion rolled. It was chilly, but we handled it!

The next day (Sunday) we headed out with Kim to see some friends and then enjoy the parades even more!

IMG_2001

We found Kim’s buddies and hung out by the floats for a while. IMG_2003

They gave me some sweet beads!2015-mardi-gras_thumb

We had parked near Whole Foods and walked past Napoleon. What a hike. We found Josh and Harper and watched Carrollton and King Arthur with them.

Sarah and joined us and while her and Kim when to get burgers, Doug and I  walked down the street with Kristian and Byron and met some awesome new kids! Kathryn and Craig welcomed us and we hung out there for a while!

After a while we headed back to the spot, met up with Kim and Sarah, and ate a delicious burger.

After while Kim and Sarah headed out. Then Josh and Harper headed out so we went back to hang out with Kathryn and Craig. They are so fun. Here is Kathryn with her nieces.

and Doug photobombing in the background. Smile

Interestingly I had noticed their fence the night before because of it’s organzation:IMG_2009

How awesome is this?! When we met them the next day, I told them how I had loved their fence the night before. They, of course, were honored. ha.

Then we stayed with them through Alla and Femme Fatal to help decorate their fence. IMG_2010

A few days later (Wednesday), we headed back Uptown to see Druids and Nyx.

IMG_2031

I have quite a few friends riding in Nyx so we waved at Lisa, Mary, Mary, Jamie and Julie. It was a fun night and we did catch some glittered and not-glittered purses. So awesome! (Again, we hung with Kathryn and Craig- did I mention they rock?!)

The following nice was Muses. Read about that tomorrow Smile

Videos–TOT and Christmas

I have FINALLY “edited” two videos worth sharing.

This is from our family trip to Disneyland on the Tower of Terror Ride. (My favorite part is Janice’s face.)

Tower of Terror–2014 Disneyland

This is our family Christmas in less than 4 minutes.

Both make me happy in totally different ways. Enjoy!

Cinco de February

Since I was in Dallas for the 5th of February, Doug and I google chatted to take our monthly pinata photo.

We got online at 7:30 am to get it done as I would be in meetings and with people until well after midnight that night.

Here is the silliness that happened.hangout_snapshot_1

NSM–Dallas in Feb 2015

We had our first National Sales Meeting in Dallas this month. We had 4 days of meetings. Booked in the middle of that was some R & R at Top Golf. May I just say, if you ever have the chance to go to Top Golf – GO! It is so fun.

We were assigned teams to play with, but only 3 of us played.

IMG_1992

America, Jared and I played 3 games (I think) and I loved it. I lost terribly on the first two games, but surprisingly won the third game. I took this photo to remember the win!IMG_1991

We hung out with new team mates and old ones. It was such a great time. The DJ rocked too!

One thing of note was how amazing Miki can drive those golf balls. I was amazed.

By the end of the meetings, I felt like this..

It was awesome – lots of learning, lots of great people and a very bright future.

This year is going to rock!
