Christmas Decoration Fail, Mardi Gras Win.

On the day we chose to put up Christmas decorations, we pulled down a flocked tree given to us by some (wonderful) neighbors who moved away and could not fit the tree into the UHaul. We promised to to put it to good use stored it in our attic until Christmas.

We let Ashley and Andrew use our Christmas tree from last year and setup the flocked tree. Three hours into it, I could not breath in the house. We think I had an allergic reaction to the flocking.

I was unable to breath until we took the tree out of the house, vacuumed and cleaned all the surfaces it touched. Suddenly we were Christmas Tree-less. Ashley and Andrew had already decorated the tree and it looked adorable. We were not about to take our tree back, so I decided to not decorate at all for Christmas.

Later in the month, right before we left for Christmas in Hammond and Memphis, I decided to decorate for the next season: Mardi Gras!

So on December 22, I decorated the house like this:

Don’t judge me. I needed some décor!IMG_1316

We left the next day and did not come back for over a week. When we came home, it was ALMOST Mardi Gras season.

I do have to admit I missed having a tree and Christmas. Next Christmas, I will make it happen.

Next up: Christmas!

A+A’s wedding centerpieces/Decor

As you saw, Ashley and Andrew worked on their centerpieces on December 1 while Doug and I were doing our 40k step day, but since then not much had been finished. We had to get on it! February was quickly approaching. I had taken the last two weeks of December off of work (had to use my Vacation days) and decided to finish the centerpieces come hell or high water.

I started with the Spray Glitter (WHICH IS AWESOME!) and hit up the bottles outside. IMG_1293

Then I started on the smaller bottles inside with my Martha Stewart Glitter.IMG_1294IMG_1295IMG_1296

Then I paired them up based on color (3 per table) and packed them up:IMG_1301IMG_1302

Then I worked on the coffee filter balls – picked the good ones and worked on the glassware.

Here are the final mock ups:

Finally, I packed them all up and labeled all the boxes.

A few days later we put Janice to work. She is an amazing artist free handed Ashley’s lace on a large wooden sign.

This is what we gave her printed out:

She got right to work:

She is still going…

Almost done…

It looked absolutely amazing. Thank you so much Janice!

The wedding was getting closer and closer. Honestly, for me January is intensely busy and I was trying to get everything done as early as possible.

After that week, we checked two BIG items off the to-do list. We still had plenty to do, but checking things off was awesome.

The Roosevelt during Christmas– A bucket list item

I have always wanted to see the Roosevelt all dressed up for Christmas. Last year, I finally did it!

Doug and I had play tickets to see Sister Act at the Saenger so we left early and meandered through the beautiful lights and trees in the Roosevelt.

I just love the Roosevelt. They motivate me to decorate my house in the same classy manor…

Thank you, Doug, for going with me and allowing me to check another little something off my bucket list!

Now, lets make it a tradition and go each year?!

Stuffing Ashley and Andrew’s wedding invites– December 16

The wedding was quickly approaching and we had to get those invites out ASAP!

Hot off the presses they arrived and we all got to work.

There was a processing line through the kitchen…

while Sarah and I glued them shut and put on the wax seal.

The finished invites were stamped and put in boxes to go to the Post Office the following day.

We did it all in ONE night.

Clearly, Caronna helped too.

The invites were sent out on December 17! Turn around time was not too shabby!!

Glad we could get it done. I can confidently say Ashley, Andrew, Sarah and Jill were thrilled to be done.

Santa came to our house!

Right before Christmas, Santa came to our house to remind us to behave…IMG_3967

I think we listened pretty well…

Santa’s reindeer always have gas or so he says.

We love it when Santa comes by to visit! See you again in a few months since this blog is so late. ha!

Mom’s Birthday Party!

Mom’s birthday party was a huge success, but the night before was a little touch and go…

We stayed up pretty late decorating the house for Mom’s birthday party.

The next day we finished the cleaning, picked up her requested lunch (Mexican) and had an awesome party.

Once all the people arrived, it got WILD Smile

We hope you enjoyed your birthday party! Welcome to  your new decade! We love you very much!

Enjoy a few short videos to remind you of the party.
