SURPRISE! a bridal shower story

The chicken has landed.

Janessa arrived in Nola last Thursday, was picked up by Ashley and brought to my house. Ashley came in and told me she had a “heavy box” she needed help with in her car.

I walked out and Janessa popped out from behind Ashley’s car.

First I thought, “Woah, that is Janessa. She does not live here…”. Then, “Where is her car?”. Finally, “Do I still need to get the box?” Odd, confused thoughts, right?

I thought the surprise was just Janessa (which is AWESOME) until she said my shower was this weekend. In my head I knew she was wrong. It was the following weekend.

Or was it?!?! They got me! Ashley, Doug, and all my bridesmaids (and all the attendees!) GOT ME! yay!!

I love being surprised! They did such a great job! I love my girls.

Easter Sunday = The Easter Bunny

For the past 7 years I have been friends with the Easter Bunny at Arnaud’s on Easter Sunday. Here is the bunny in action:

Ms. Norma and her daughter were so cute! I hope I will be friends with the Easter Bunny next year also!

Holy Week and Easter Vigil

This past Easter was a big deal for Doug and I. We have been going to RCIA for the past 10 months as Doug decided he wanted to become Catholic. I wanted to support his decision and acted as his sponsor. I knew he was going to learn all about the Catholic faith and I wanted a refresher course so I decided to attend all the classes with him. It has been a great experience that culminated during Easter week!

On Holy Thursday, Doug was asked to act as a disciple and to get his feet washed by Father Herb (just as Jesus washed his disciples feet).

Then we attended Mass at 3 pm on Good Friday. It was a great experience. We kissed the feet of Jesus.

The the big event: Saturday! We went to practice at 10 am on Saturday morning and then went to the main event that night. Doug was confirmed, had is first communion and was welcomed into the Catholic Church with a big party!

Doug was confirmed with two other gentlemen. They are wonderful few friends. Congrats to Andy and Frank also!

18 days left….

We are getting so close! I am so excited. We are wrapping up some big projects and working a million little ones.

Ashley is steaming chair covers, Doug is working on paper designs, Sabrina is working on the programs, I am packing and organizing all the items for the reception. It is getting crazy at the shack!

My bridesmaids threw me an AMAZING shower this past Sunday! And did I mention it was a SURPRISE. They got me…Janessa flew in town to tell me the surprise. I will have to blog all about it alter! :) I had quite a few surprise out of town guests! It was so wonderful.

Tomorrow is work, floral appts, choosing photos to the framed for the wedding and NFP class! It is so busy!

I am so blessed to be surrounded by amazing people. I have wonderful friends and family. I am one lucky girl. LOVE!

Bachelorette Beach Weekend!!

I know I say this all the time, but I must say it again: I have the best friends and family any girl could ask for.

This past weekend, twelve of us headed to Orange Beach, Alabama. We had such fun.

Here we are at the FloraBama, me being all made up, and on the beach.

I fear my blog postings might become short this month as we ramp up for the wedding. I will do my best!

I do want to send a special thank you to all of my girls that made the weekend so amazing. I love you all so very much. I especially want to thank my maid of honor/sister/bestest friend in the world – Ashley. You are amazing! I love you girl.

1 month!

Well, we are down to one month! I am not freaking out…yet. :)

I have only two rooms left in our block. If someone needs them, please let me know.

My to do list is still over a page long, but the thing on it are much smaller than they used to be. It is time to put all the final touches. I am so very excited to marry Doug. He is my favorite!

Here are a few FUN things left to do:
