Our first full day married!

The day after the wedding, we loaded up about 10 cars worth of stuff and headed to The Shack. Upon arrival, we stacked all the stuff in the house and headed out to the Crawfish Boil being thrown for us by Shawn and Lauren (the best man and his awesome wife).

I guess we were pictured out because I actually have ZERO photos from the crawfish boil! We got to hang out with some out of town guests and spend quality time with loved ones. Thank you to Shawn and Lauren for throwing it for us and thank you to everyone who came and hung out with us!

When we left Shawn and Lauren’s house we headed to The Shack to deal with the mess we had left…

Note the photo above – I cleaned the entire living room with the lights on and Sabrina knocked out. She was so exhausted! We all were really, but Doug and I were leaving in the morning for our mini-moon and I really wanted to get the house in order. And so I cleaned…and cleaned… until it looked like this:

Now that I look at it, it does not look much different, but I promise it was!

Doug also had his first husband duty. It was so exciting I felt the need to take a picture of it! Here is Doug leveling the washing machine. I have SUCH an AMAZING husband! Look at him go!

Well done Doug! :) I am still impressed he took on such a manly duty after only being married ONE DAY! heh.

Next Up: The Mini-Moon!

Fitbit–The Wedding Version

I was so pumped to see how many steps I was walking the wedding week that I did not take a step without the Fitbit on my body.

On Thursday, May 3, we packed up and moved into the JW (in eight cars). That day we walked all around to the rehearsal dinner spot, to the church, getting ready and back to the hotel.

On Friday, May 4, we walked to Arnaud’s for the bridal luncheon and tea, back to the hotel, and all over the hotel/suite.

On Saturday, May 5, we were up at 7 am with the fire alarm going off, I was all over the suite, walked all over Jackson Square, and experienced the wedding and reception.

Screen Shot 2012-06-17 at 4.29.07 PM

I only had one meltdown/freak out on the wedding day. It was when I finally got into the wedding dress and could not feel the Fitbit on my body. I panicked because I wanted all my stats on the wedding day and sent the bridesmaids in a tizzy all over the suite to find the “lost” Fitbit. After about 2 minutes of looking, I asked Ashley to check to see if it was on my body and I just could not feel it though the wedding dress. To my relief, it had been there the whole time! The dress was so thick I could not feel it under my skirt!

( SO COOL- If you look at the calories burned by time you can clearly see the fire alarm going off at 7 am, the walk to Arnaud’s at 11:15 am, walking around Jackson Square around 4 pm, the short walk up the aisle at 6 pm for the wedding, the second line at 7:15 pm, and all the dancing from 7:30 to 10:30 pm.)

In total, from Thursday to Saturday, I walked almost 33 miles! Check it out!

Doug’s Fitbit update on the wedding day would have blown mine out of the water, but he forgot to charge it the night before the wedding. Doug ran from The Shack to the JW the day of the wedding (just over 8 miles) and before he got to the hotel, his fitbit died. It counted 14,108 when it died at 10:30 am. Had it been charged, I bet he would have had a 30k day!

I am still obsessed with my Fitbit. I check my data all the time and I try to get 10k steps every single day. I love my fitbit.  If you want to get one (and give us credit for recommending it to you) here it he button: fitbit banner

More Fitbit updates to come…

The final post about the wedding….thank goodness!

We have finally come to the end of the wedding description. I am so happy. This has been a long, extended discussion.
After all the dancing and revelry, Bridefilm had prepared the edited video to show the crowd.
We all sat down and watched the awesome video they made for us!

(Thank you Brian for taking the pictures!)
After telling everyone goodbye, we headed out to take some photos on Canal Street.

And just like that, the wedding was over.
What a fantastic event. We had such fun. The only regret I have is not making it a 4 hour reception!
Thank you for following along with the post-wedding wrap up. It took me four months, but it is finally done!

Alex Harvie….possibly the most popular person at the wedding…

I met Alex Harvie at a bridal show and once I realized his talent, I immediately asked if he was free 5.5.12. Lucky for me, he was available and I booked him on the spot at the bridal show.

Not only was he great to work with, but I also found out he is married to a fabulous girl who went to the same high school as Ashley and I.

Fast forward to the wedding: he arrived in his painted up tux and stole the show. I received more complements on his work than anything else at the wedding. :)

He was so excited when he saw the bridesmaids were in green. He said it would make the photo even better…and he was right. 704

By the end of the night, this is what he created for us:919924779

He was such a hit. Guests would go speak with him and would watch as he “painted them into the scene”. They LOVED it.

He took the painting home after the wedding and let it dry. A few weeks later, Alex delivered the painting to my house. That is what I call amazing customer service.

Today, the painting resides at The Shack in a place of honor.

Thank you Alex! You rock!

The Draft– Lizzie is the winner!

As many of you are aware, we had “the draft” where we drafted guests from our guest list that we thought would return our wedding RSVP the fastest.

We had many updates and it was so fun to get the RSVP’s each day and see who was winning. At the wedding, we had boards up to show you what team you were on and how many points each person was worth.  Points were given based on how many days away the wedding was when your RSVP arrived. (So if your RSVP arrived 10 days before the wedding, you were only worth 10 points.)

At the end of the day, I had 4126 points vs. Doug’s 3888. I beat him by 238 points!! I had a rockstar team that made it happen! :)

The last thing people always ask us is what the prize was! First of all, it is bragging rights for the rest of my life. Secondly, I get to marry Doug! I think it was really a win-win.

Congrats to Ashley and Andrew!!

This past week came with a big announcement. On Wednesday night, Andrew proposed to Ashley! It was a well planned and executed chain of events.

Andrew was coming in town to see Ashley and celebrate their anniversary. To distract her from reasons as to why they were getting dressed up and going to City Park, we cooked up a scheme to “relive” their first date. On their first date, Andrew came to my parents house, I took fun pictures of them, they went to eat dinner and then came back to the house. So that was out plan, we were going to go take photos to remake some of their first date photos and then they would go out to eat.

Ashley was scheduled to meet us at City park at 6 pm, which gave us about an hour to take photos. I drove there with Andrew and we waited for her arrival.

He was so nervous…

Ha, just kidding. He was cool as a cucumber. DSC_0006

Once Ashley arrived, we headed to the bandstand where they reviewed the photos we would be “remaking”.

Here is an example of what we were remaking:DSC_0013

We took quite a bit of cute pictures!

So when it was time, Andrew said the code words, “Let’s take one back to back”. It was time.

Ashley got right into position.

DSC_0089

Then it was time for me to deliver the ring (which was in my bag the whole time). I walked to Ashley and fixed her hair and told her to look forward. I went around to Andrew and told him to “fix his tie” and handed him the ring. Then we took this one..she had no idea what was about to happen!

DSC_0092

Andrew placed the ring in his pocket, said some sweet words, and got down on one knee. As he was getting down on one knee and right before he pulled out the ring, I got this awesome shot:

DSC_0099

Then he asked for her hand…

DSC_0101

And she said YES!

DSC_0107

And then she was shocked…for hours…

After Andrew proposed, they went to Commander’s Palace for dinner where they met up with Andrew’s parents, Mom and Dad and Doug and I. It was lovely!

Congrats to Ashley and Andrew! We are all so excited for you two!
