Baby Pool!

Doug and I decided to make the twins birth a little more exciting! We started a baby pool at $2.00 a pop. The first one was so successful, we opened a second pool. Here they are!

Both pool are closed now.

Date Only Pool!
In this pool, you just have to get the date right. The value of this pool is $104.

Date and Sex Pool!

IMG_3970

In this pool, you have to guess the date AND sex combo of the twins! The pool is closed and is worth $130!

Winner will take the whole pool. If the babies come on a day where the sex is not guessed then whoever is on that date will get the money or split if there are two names on that date.

We shall see what happens!

First walk of the 2016 (February 6, 2016)

When I was 30 weeks pregnant, my doc said I could increase my activity to 1000 steps per day! This was huge considering I was walking about 300 steps a day at that time.

My dad was with me that night and he documented my first walk out of my room on my own accord.

Here we go!

Outside my room – 226! (I ended up living in that room for 74 days when it was all over.)2016-02-06-19-03_IMG_0392

Nurse Toni and I. I made it all the way to the nurses station! First time ever!2016-02-06-19-04_IMG_03942016-02-06-19-04_IMG_0397

When I learned where the Nutrition Room was and I could get my own water for the first time. 2016-02-06-19-05_IMG_0398

It really is about the simple things. Walking 1000 steps in normal life is pathetic, but at that point it was the most exciting thing ever!

The next morning Dark showed us his/her face. Check out my cutie. 2016-02-07-00-00-00_IMG_3585

From then on out, I was allowed to walk 1000 steps each day. It did not seem to increase my contractions. Everyday I would get up and take my walk. I would take it with Doug or whoever was on “Lizzie Duty” at that time. Eventually, I was confident enough to do it on my own.

This entire pregnancy has given me such perspective. I have learned so much about myself.

Mardi Gras 2016 (January and February)

It is safe to say that Mardi Gras is  my favorite holiday of the year. Christmas and St. Patty’s is close, but Mardi Gras is #1. I had resigned myself to the fact that I would not be attending Mardi Gras this year. Well, not in person. I had decided to make the most of it. I would watch all the parades I could (via Live camera) and make it the best I could.

At first I told Doug he could not do Mardi Gras without me! Then, I totally changed my tune and told him to go. Just because I could not Mardi Gras (yes, I just made that a verb), that did not mean he should not enjoy it also.

Right before Mardi Gras, doug brought me a gift! Check out my shirt!

I guess it should technically have two cakes on it, but oh well. At least it had one cake Smile. Also, we had so much king cake in the hospital room.  Doug brought me one each week from a local bakery with the new flavor of the week. Maybe that is where I got this tummy…. or not. Smile2016-01-29-09-36_IMG_3419

Each night a parade would ride Uptown, I would pull up my computer and watch the parade live. I must admit the commentators were pretty terrible, but at least I got to see and hear Mardi Gras.

One of the things I was most looking forward to was seeing the Sirens dance. I thought I might be sad, but I was not. I was just excited. Next year its on! I will be dancing come hell or high water! Smile

When I would see the truck, I would get so excited and dance along.

2016-01-29-20-41_IMG_34242016-01-29-20-42_IMG_34272016-01-29-20-42_IMG_34282016-01-29-20-42_IMG_3429

I got to see lots of friends marching and dancing. It was as awesome as I could make it. It was also a great distraction from the burning, heart racing injections.

On the day of the Muses parade, I had a few visitors. Courtney and Mamma Gay stopped by to visit me. Little did I know they had a surprise in store for me. They sat and visited with me for a while. All seemed normal. Then a came a knock at the door (totally normal for a hospital). Heather (my favorite makeup and hair designer) walked in. I was shocked! I had not booked her to come in that day. She came in with a note…

2016-02-04-10-11_IMG_3449

It was a note from Jackie J and Pat. They were surprising me with a hair and makeup application to help make me feel pretty! Boy was a surprised! It was so unexpected and sweet of them. I really have some amazing friends.

There may have been some wig fun occurring while I had my makeup and hair done…

Heather does some great work, right?!?2016-02-04-11-04_IMG_3464

I felt like a million bucks!

2016-02-04-12-04_IMG_3466

Thank you so much Jackie and Pat. What an amazing surprise and gift. You two are wonderful.

Thank you Courtney and Gay for the visit. It is always amazing to see you. Also, thank you for the cookies! They were so delicious and I can never get enough.

2016-02-04-12-20_IMG_34682016-02-04-12-22_IMG_3470

That night I put on my king cake t-shirt, specially delivered Muses bracelet and watched Muses.

2016-02-04-20-00_IMG_3561

I got to see my Aunt Donna ride!

2016-02-03-00-00-00_IMG_3446

All dressed up for Muses!

2016-02-04-17-22_IMG_3556

I had sent Doug out to the parade to catch me some shoes. He brought in the loot the next day Smile
Ironically, this was the first day I did not see doug since I was hospitalized. He felt bad, but I told him to get to the parades! ha. Priorities!

15 Hospital Things :D

Here are a few things of note from my hospital stay in January and February.

1. I had some amazing visitors! Thank you Julie for always visiting, bringing snacks and spending the night with me. You rock!

2. Doug sent me this! Produce from our new back yard!

3. There was a “Lizzie Sitting Schedule” that I lived by. At first I had to have round the clock coverage. Then as things became more steady, I only had to have coverage during my shots. It was a gradual process for sure.

4. I got to go outside every 2ish days. It was lovely!

They seemed to be adjusting fine. Thank goodness!

7. We were welcomed by our neighbors! They brought us sweets, welcome cards and so flowers. I wish I could have been there to accept them, but doug did a great job representing us. These were so, so good.

8. Doug’s mom came to visit and helped Doug sort out the kitchen by night and be with me during the day. It was so sweet of her to come to town. She was a huge help and our kitchen is all unpacked thanks to her and Doug!

9. Cynthia made me some adorable hospital gowns! I wore them every night to sleep in. They are so freaking cute. Then other friends got in on it with her. I had so much hospital swag!
