Kayaking in Bayou St. John – A family affair….

Mom has been talking about getting us all all out to kayak as a big group. Her wish finally came true. We all were free on a random Saturday morning and made plans to do a 2 hour family kayak trip.

Mom, Dad, Alex and Janice drove in from H-town. Ashley, Andrew, Doug and I met them at 8:45 at Bayou St. John. The Kayaks and our guide arrived a few minutes later. DSCF1670

Soon we were loading into our kayaks and paddling down the bayou.

Janice and I were the only two who were new to kayaking. We got the hang of it and started paddling into a headwind. DSCF1687 DSCF1695DSCF1692DSCF1726

We got the official tour of the Bayou. There is a lot of interesting history about this little bayou. We got to kayak around Park Island – an island that NEVER floods. I know where I want to live…

We did get one group shot:

Thanks Mom and Dad! That was awesome. Good idea. :)

Then we took our starving selves to the new Felipe’s on Carrollton.

We were starving and it was delicious.

Thank you Mom and Dad for kayaking and for lunch! You guys are amazing. It really was a fun day.

Love and Hugs, Lizzie
